"What immediately stole my heart was the handwritten card"

Hans Kruijssen sold his Amsterdam home with Rogier de Vries

Recently, Hans Kruijssen sold his home to exchange the capital for a new adventure in the east of the country. He did this together with our estate agent Rogier de Vries. To great satisfaction. In this interview, Hans talks about his experience with Rogier and how a hiking trip in Patagonia led to a new house in Nijmegen.

Let us introduce Hans Kruijssen, 62 years old and happily married to Jeanette for 32 years. He works in the social domain, where he guides young compulsory education students who have left the school system due to circumstances. In addition to a background in pedagogy, he also holds a master's degree in business administration. Hans has been working as an independent consultant for 20 years now.

From Amsterdam to Nijmegen

How did you find the Makelaars van Amsterdam? Hans: "We recently moved from Amsterdam to Nijmegen, after having lived in Amsterdam for 44 years. Therefore, our home in Amsterdam had to be sold. I first approached an estate agent with whom I had a good experience ten years ago, but this time he didn't seem very interested and was careless with appointments. Because a property in the neighbourhood had recently been sold by the Makelaars van Amsterdam, I decided to contact their office."

Heart stolen

"I was properly referred to the selling agent, Rogier de Vries. What immediately stole my heart was the handwritten card I received prior to our appointment. Rogier was also clear and transparent in communication, and he responded positively to feedback. I'm critical, so I don't give a 10 easily, but Rogier did an excellent job and the property was sold for a good price."

Nice city

How did you purchase the new house and why did you move? Hans: "That's quite an interesting story. Last year, I went on a hiking holiday to Patagonia with my daughter, while Jeanette went to a nice city in the Netherlands with our other daughter for a weekend. Eventually, that turned out to be Nijmegen, and upon return, I was informed that we were moving to Nijmegen. After living in Amsterdam for 44 years, I love that city, but I love my wife even more. So we bought a new-build home in Nijmegen-East."

Meant to be

"However, this project didn't go through due to disappointing sales. But the decision to move had been made, so we then called two random estate agents and continued with one of them. In the end, we bought a house that was much larger than what we originally had in mind. Upon entering, we immediately felt that we wanted to live here. Unfortunately, our offer wasn't accepted, but after three weeks, we were still able to sign the purchase contract because the first two buyers had dropped out. It just seemed meant to be."

Certainly again

Would you recommend Rogier to family and friends? Hans: "Certainly, I referred Rogier to a good friend last month and I will definitely engage him when I'm going to sell my daughter's property. I don't use social media in my work and don't have a website either, but because Rogier is authentic and reliable, I will certainly know how to find him when the time comes."
